Elementary School - Curriculum/Programs
Curriculum
The core of our elementary curriculum is the
A Beka Book
Christian school curriculum, published by Pensacola Christian
College in Florida. It is a comprehensive curriculum that is
used nationwide by Christian schools. The curriculum integrates
academic subjects and Biblical truth to provide students with a
Christian understanding of
the world we live in. While our
curriculum emphasizes the fundamentals of reading, writing, and
mathematics, it also provides excellent materials for science,
history, geography, health, art, music and computer technology.
The Bible is an important part of our school curriculum and is included in each day’s studies. On Wednesdays, we have a chapel service for elementary students that includes worship, prayer, and a Biblical message.
Music
Our elementary students have classroom music on a weekly basis and also present a Christmas Musical and Spring Program. Students have the opportunity to audition for drama, speaking parts, and vocal solos.
Technology
Students use the computer lab on a weekly basis. Our technology program integrates software and an internet based technology curriculum from K to the 8th Power to teach computer literacy, research and communication skills, and reinforce learning in academic subject areas. The computer lab is also used by the newspaper staff and for other special projects.
Library
Our school library has over 3,000 cataloged volumes. We have
a computerized card catalog and checkout system and students
have the opportunity to use the library on a regular basis. The
computer lab workstations can be used to search the library
catalog as well as public library online catalogs. Online
research is also possible when approved and supervised by a
school staff member.
